BIO:
Taught by Lara Goodman
Lara Goodman received her BFA from Bard College and her MFAed from MassArt. She has taught Marblehead students in grades kindergarten through three, as well as Middle School Art at The Buckingham Browne and Nichols School. As an art educator, she is driven to help students access their own visual language through exposure to varied materials, masterworks, literature, and environment. She currently maintains a painting studio at the Lydia Pinkham Building in Lynn. Her work has been exhibited at Lydia Pinkham Open Studios, The St. George Gallery, and can be found in several private collections.
Class Description:
Middle School
Artists will learn the value of a sketchbook as a visual diary, a space to figure out compositions, and a judgement free zone. We will work en plein air, outdoors, using simple portable materials like pencil, pen and ink, and watercolor. Students should supply their own bound, 9x12 sketchbook with at least 100 sheets. Additionally, artists will have the opportunity to create community art work which will become a part of our town’s environment.
Elementary School
Artists will create art about and with the landscape around them. We will look for inspiration from nature and learn how shapes and forms in the natural world influence our visual vocabularies. We will work en plein air, outdoors. Additionally, artists will have the opportunity to create community art work which will become a part of our town’s environment.
