Ryan Townsend is an art educator at Swampscott High School. He has a Bachelors degree in Studio Art and Anthropology, and a Master’s in Teaching Art from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. His primary mediums include ceramics and painting/drawing. Beyond making and teaching visual art, he enjoys cooking & baking, exploring in the outdoors, and traveling locally & internationally.

In this one week photography course, students will get an opportunity to experience contemporary and traditional aspects of photography, including working in the photo darkroom! We will have fun experimenting with printing photograms, playing with digital cameras, and exploring composition and editing techniques. At the end of the week, students will have several prints to take home for hanging up. Due to the nature of the medium, this course will include working in dark spaces and using photographic chemicals in a controlled environment.
