Swampscott Fire Department Youth Firefighter Program

The Swampscott Recreation Department and Swampscott Fire Department have teamed up to bring you a new Youth Firefighter Program.

Participants will:




  • Learn about fire safety and apply what they’ve learned


  • Learn about fire department trucks (apparatus) and personnel


  • Hands on with various equipment


  • Hoses-proper techniques to connect to hydrant, flow water, roll up etc.


  • Extinguishers the ABCs


  • Rescue tools hands on and view demonstrations


  • Fire gear turnout gear, SCBA etc.


  • And much more…




We require:




  • Closed-toed shoes / sneakers every day. Open-toed shoes / sandals are not permitted


  • that participants NOT be allowed cell phones during camp


  • that participants shall follow all health and safety regulations




Drop-off will be at:       Swampscott Fire Headquarters, 76 Burrill St.  9:00 am
Notes:




  • The Swampscott Fire Department is not responsible for loss, theft or damage of personal items brought to this program. Please leave valuable items at home.


  • The fire station can not be guaranteed to be a nut-free environment.


  • Program activities may include but are not limited to:









  • Using/handling tools


  • Climbing ladders


  • Going on Town owned boats- please bring your own life jacket if you have one


  • Use of fire extinguishers on a controlled live-fire prop


  • CPR/first aid training


  • Handling fire hoses/nozzles


  • Campers may be transported to other locations in or about Swampscott during camp


  • Search training in dark environments


  • Going on fire trucks
