Let’s Write a Book!
For 3rd and 4th grade students

Is your child full of creative ideas just waiting to be turned into a story? Let’s take that imagination and make a book! Who knows, you could have the next Dr. Suess, JK Rowling, or RL Stine living in your house! Taught by professional writer and editor Maia Gosselin, this four-part class will cover the A-Zs of story writing. Together, we will work on brainstorming a subject, draft writing, storyboarding, peer feedback, and revisions. By the end of this class, students will:
  • Create an original story (adventure, ghost, mystery, poetry)
  • Learn how real authors plan, draft, revise, and publish
  • Illustrate their own book
  • Hold a finished book they wrote themselves!
About the instructor: Maia Gosselin has been an editor and a freelance writer for more than twenty years and is the author of the recently published children’s picture book The Mermaid's Tear. She holds a master’s degree in children’s literature and was the longtime volunteer library coordinator at Hadley Elementary School. She is known for her laid-back and engaging approach to education.
