This year, we are excited to bring back our Rain or Shine Park League Program! All the fun of Park League, but with extended hours! Also, no need to worry about the weather, we've got you "covered!" Park League Rain or Shine eliminates the unpredictability of the weather and guarantees fun programming for your child(ren) regardless of weather.Due to available space on rainy weather days, Park League Rain or Shine will only be held at Clarke School.Sign up for individual weeks or all 6 weeks at a discounted rate!THIS PROGRAM IS LIMITED TO NO MORE THAN 30 CHILDREN PER WEEKYour child will love spending their summer outdoors with us! To participate in Park League, you must register your child(ren) for the full 6-week program, whether or not they will attend all weeks/days. If you're looking for a childcare option with more hours, consider our Park League Rain or Shine program taking place at Clarke School, which may be purchased on a week-to-week basis. Your child will love spending their summer outdoors with us! Come join this very cool and fun summer program geared for preschoolers age 3-5!   Over the past 30 years, Top Secret Science (www.TopSecretKids.org) has worked hands-on with over 1.5 million local children.  Each day the kids will explore up to 10 weird and wacky hands-on science experiments and will make and take home at least 5 different projects.  The scientists are fast paced and funny and your kids will be thoroughly entertained (they’ll even learn some interesting things too).  We will explore weird motions and flying things, air and water pressure; crazy chemistry, light and sound, science magic, electricity, magnets, astronomy and more.  Be prepared for lots of fun stuff.  Each child receives a Free Top Secret Science Tee Shirt!  A wonderful 3 hours of science each day.  Hope to see you there!!   CHILDREN MUST BE POTTY TRAINED FOR THIS PROGRAM

Rec Center membership has big perks.  Enjoy daily, rain or shine access to our new and improved Middle School Recreation Center which is equipped with tons of arts and crafts, ping-pong, board games, video Games, karaoke and unlimited access to basketball and four square.  Daily outdoor activities ranging from wiffle ball, flag football, soccer, capture the flag and dodgeball will be lead by Recreation Park Leaders.  Rec Center members will enjoy ice cream sundae bars and popsicles over the course of the program.Rec Center is being supervised this summer by Swampscott Public Schools employee and JV basketball coach, Temi - always a favorite with our youth!

Take advantage of our priceless seaside location and sail with us this summer.  Exposing your children to sailing at an early age has endless benefits.  Beyond the practical skills acquired through hands on learning, the intangible lessons learned through sailing enhance all aspects of your child's development.Studies have shown that sailing education helps to increase muscle strength and endurance, improve cardiovascular fitness and mental wellness, lower stress, increase agility, improve concentration and spatial awareness as well as improve communication and organizational skills.  For over 50 years, this program as developed generations of youth sailors many of whom have competed at the high school and even collegiate levels.  Take a look at the many options that we have for all ability levels and feel fee to contact the Recreation Department if you have any questions.
 
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM    Stand Up Paddle Board Children's Program - SUP AM Session - WEEK 6 - July 29th-August 2nd
Stand Up Paddleboard programming for kids is back in Swampscott for Summer 2024! We are excited to roll out our town-run SUP program for kids again this summer!We welcome SUPers of all levels. Participants must be entering 1st thru 9th grade come September 2024.Mrs. Russo and Ms Woodfin, beloved Swampscott High School Teachers, will be directing this program with a group of dynamic SUP Leaders!Participants in this program will have plenty of time aboard our new paddle boards as well as time to cool off with some AWESOME beach activities (Think: Tie-dye, flash dances, treasure hunts, Spike Ball, and more!!!)Our top priority is safety on and off the water. Participants will be educated on how to properly handle equipment, how to safely launch and land a paddle board, how to turn and maneuver while in the water, water and sun safety and etiquette, and how to safely dismount and get back on a board while in the water.Our next priority is FUN! We've got program leaders who are excited to welcome you to the program and jam pack the morning with high-octane FUN, FUN, FUN! Whether participants are on a board or on the beach, FUN will be following!You must bring your own fife jacket. We ask that each participant brings a towel, sunscreen, a nut-free snack, and a bottle of water to each session.All levels welcome.*This program will run in the mornings 9am-12pm for 7 weeks, starting June 24th and running through August 9th. We will be running PM sessions, 1-4pm for 3 select weeks throughout the summer. Sign-up for the weeks you would like.*Week 8 (August 12th-16th) is reserved for all weather make-up sessions. You will be able to choose which days to attend that week to make-up for any cancellations during your regularly scheduled week. (For example, if you get rained out twice, you will be able to sign up for two days of your choice during Week 8.) Because we have set aside and are offering a week of make-up sessions to cover all cancellations, no refunds will be given for weather cancellations.

Make television!! In TV STUDIO PRODUCTION students learn how to be part of a team that works to create a live TV show in a multi-camera studio.  Students become writers, directors, camera operators, and on-camera talent, planning a show to go on the air live at the end of the week!  Students have full access to Swampscott High School’s TV studio, using professional equipment to produce studio shows that will be aired to the community on Swampscott Educational Access TV station and on the web. Students with no previous video experience will be taught the basics, while students who already have experience can build on their skills. This program is taught by JoE Douillette, the high school TV/Film Production teacher, along with Swampscott High School TV students and recent graduates.

6:00 PM - 7:00 PM    Girls Basketball Clinic - Girls Basketball Clinic
Directed by Katelyn Leonard Katelyn Leonard is currently the girls varsity basketball coach at Swampscott High School and has been a varsity coach for more than 15 years. She brings enthusiasm, knowledge and experience of more than 25 years of playing and coaching. Katelyn played Division II basketball at Stonehill College, and is an alumni of the Swampscott High School Girls Basketball program.  Girls Basketball Skills & Drills The clinic is designed to develop fundamental basketball skills to help each player reach their ultimate potential. We will work on individual skills and team concepts in a fun and positive atmosphere. Drills are designed for all skill levels to benefit – from beginner up. The Swampscott High School girls basketball coaching staff as well as players from the HS team will be on site for instruction. Open to girls entering grades 4-8.

Directed by Chris Balliro. Chris played basketball at Swampscott High School. He was Northeast Conference MVP for his junior and senior years in High School. He went on to play Division 1 basketball at Stonybrook University then played professionally for 14 years in Europe.Boys Basketball Skills & Drills The clinic is designed to develop fundamental basketball skills to help each player reach their ultimate potential. We will work on individual skills and team concepts in a fun and positive atmosphere. Drills are designed for all skill levels to benefit – from beginner up.  Open boys entering grades 4-8.

Come join this very cool and fun summer program geared for preschoolers age 3-5!   Over the past 30 years, Top Secret Science (www.TopSecretKids.org) has worked hands-on with over 1.5 million local children.  Each day the kids will explore up to 10 weird and wacky hands-on science experiments and will make and take home at least 5 different projects.  The scientists are fast paced and funny and your kids will be thoroughly entertained (they’ll even learn some interesting things too).  We will explore weird motions and flying things, air and water pressure; crazy chemistry, light and sound, science magic, electricity, magnets, astronomy and more.  Be prepared for lots of fun stuff.  Each child receives a Free Top Secret Science Tee Shirt!  A wonderful 3 hours of science each day.  Hope to see you there!!   CHILDREN MUST BE POTTY TRAINED FOR THIS PROGRAM

Rec Center membership has big perks.  Enjoy daily, rain or shine access to our new and improved Middle School Recreation Center which is equipped with tons of arts and crafts, ping-pong, board games, video Games, karaoke and unlimited access to basketball and four square.  Daily outdoor activities ranging from wiffle ball, flag football, soccer, capture the flag and dodgeball will be lead by Recreation Park Leaders.  Rec Center members will enjoy ice cream sundae bars and popsicles over the course of the program.Rec Center is being supervised this summer by Swampscott Public Schools employee and JV basketball coach, Temi - always a favorite with our youth!

Stand Up Paddleboard programming for kids is back in Swampscott for Summer 2024! We are excited to roll out our town-run SUP program for kids again this summer!We welcome SUPers of all levels. Participants must be entering 1st thru 9th grade come September 2024.Mrs. Russo and Ms Woodfin, beloved Swampscott High School Teachers, will be directing this program with a group of dynamic SUP Leaders!Participants in this program will have plenty of time aboard our new paddle boards as well as time to cool off with some AWESOME beach activities (Think: Tie-dye, flash dances, treasure hunts, Spike Ball, and more!!!)Our top priority is safety on and off the water. Participants will be educated on how to properly handle equipment, how to safely launch and land a paddle board, how to turn and maneuver while in the water, water and sun safety and etiquette, and how to safely dismount and get back on a board while in the water.Our next priority is FUN! We've got program leaders who are excited to welcome you to the program and jam pack the morning with high-octane FUN, FUN, FUN! Whether participants are on a board or on the beach, FUN will be following!You must bring your own fife jacket. We ask that each participant brings a towel, sunscreen, a nut-free snack, and a bottle of water to each session.All levels welcome.*This program will run in the mornings 9am-12pm for 7 weeks, starting June 24th and running through August 9th. We will be running PM sessions, 1-4pm for 3 select weeks throughout the summer. Sign-up for the weeks you would like.*Week 8 (August 12th-16th) is reserved for all weather make-up sessions. You will be able to choose which days to attend that week to make-up for any cancellations during your regularly scheduled week. (For example, if you get rained out twice, you will be able to sign up for two days of your choice during Week 8.) Because we have set aside and are offering a week of make-up sessions to cover all cancellations, no refunds will be given for weather cancellations.

Make television!! In TV STUDIO PRODUCTION students learn how to be part of a team that works to create a live TV show in a multi-camera studio.  Students become writers, directors, camera operators, and on-camera talent, planning a show to go on the air live at the end of the week!  Students have full access to Swampscott High School’s TV studio, using professional equipment to produce studio shows that will be aired to the community on Swampscott Educational Access TV station and on the web. Students with no previous video experience will be taught the basics, while students who already have experience can build on their skills. This program is taught by JoE Douillette, the high school TV/Film Production teacher, along with Swampscott High School TV students and recent graduates.

Directed by Katelyn Leonard Katelyn Leonard is currently the girls varsity basketball coach at Swampscott High School and has been a varsity coach for more than 15 years. She brings enthusiasm, knowledge and experience of more than 25 years of playing and coaching. Katelyn played Division II basketball at Stonehill College, and is an alumni of the Swampscott High School Girls Basketball program.  Girls Basketball Skills & Drills The clinic is designed to develop fundamental basketball skills to help each player reach their ultimate potential. We will work on individual skills and team concepts in a fun and positive atmosphere. Drills are designed for all skill levels to benefit – from beginner up. The Swampscott High School girls basketball coaching staff as well as players from the HS team will be on site for instruction. Open to girls entering grades 4-8.

Make television!! In TV STUDIO PRODUCTION students learn how to be part of a team that works to create a live TV show in a multi-camera studio.  Students become writers, directors, camera operators, and on-camera talent, planning a show to go on the air live at the end of the week!  Students have full access to Swampscott High School’s TV studio, using professional equipment to produce studio shows that will be aired to the community on Swampscott Educational Access TV station and on the web. Students with no previous video experience will be taught the basics, while students who already have experience can build on their skills. This program is taught by JoE Douillette, the high school TV/Film Production teacher, along with Swampscott High School TV students and recent graduates.

Directed by Chris Balliro. Chris played basketball at Swampscott High School. He was Northeast Conference MVP for his junior and senior years in High School. He went on to play Division 1 basketball at Stonybrook University then played professionally for 14 years in Europe.Boys Basketball Skills & Drills The clinic is designed to develop fundamental basketball skills to help each player reach their ultimate potential. We will work on individual skills and team concepts in a fun and positive atmosphere. Drills are designed for all skill levels to benefit – from beginner up.  Open boys entering grades 4-8.

Come join this very cool and fun summer program geared for preschoolers age 3-5!   Over the past 30 years, Top Secret Science (www.TopSecretKids.org) has worked hands-on with over 1.5 million local children.  Each day the kids will explore up to 10 weird and wacky hands-on science experiments and will make and take home at least 5 different projects.  The scientists are fast paced and funny and your kids will be thoroughly entertained (they’ll even learn some interesting things too).  We will explore weird motions and flying things, air and water pressure; crazy chemistry, light and sound, science magic, electricity, magnets, astronomy and more.  Be prepared for lots of fun stuff.  Each child receives a Free Top Secret Science Tee Shirt!  A wonderful 3 hours of science each day.  Hope to see you there!!   CHILDREN MUST BE POTTY TRAINED FOR THIS PROGRAM

The unique, games-based play program and modified learning equipment make it easier for kids to hit the ball and experience early success.In addition to traditional golf, children will get to explore and practice the basics of disc (frisbee) golf and foot (soccer) golf. All equipment is provided. Participants may NOT bring any equipment.   Participants should bring a water bottle, two snacks, lunch, sunscreen and wear appropriate athletic attire. Each participant receives an awards certificate and Skyhawks T-shirt.

Young engineers will spend the week designing and building to make their imaginations come to life. Our week-long Lego program will foster creativity as students use Legos to design mazes, robots, moving cars, and more. Students will work together to solve tricky challenges and compete against each other to win fun games. Our instructors will use the Engineering Design Process to guide students from the beginning stages of asking questions and imagining solutions to creating something bigger and better than they thought was possible. There’s something for every creative brain at our Lego program!Students should bring a lunch, snack, and a water bottle daily. Food must be nut-free.

Katelyn played Division II basketball at Stonehill College, and is an alumni of the Swampscott High School Girls Basketball program.  Girls Basketball Skills & Drills The clinic is designed to develop fundamental basketball skills to help each player reach their ultimate potential. Our week-long Lego program will foster creativity as students use Legos to design mazes, robots, moving cars, and more. Students will work together to solve tricky challenges and compete against each other to win fun games. Our instructors will use the Engineering Design Process to guide students from the beginning stages of asking questions and imagining solutions to creating something bigger and better than they thought was possible. There’s something for every creative brain at our Lego program!Students should bring a lunch, snack, and a water bottle daily. Food must be nut-free.

Directed by Chris Balliro. Chris played basketball at Swampscott High School. He was Northeast Conference MVP for his junior and senior years in High School. He went on to play Division 1 basketball at Stonybrook University then played professionally for 14 years in Europe.Boys Basketball Skills & Drills The clinic is designed to develop fundamental basketball skills to help each player reach their ultimate potential. We will work on individual skills and team concepts in a fun and positive atmosphere. Drills are designed for all skill levels to benefit – from beginner up.  Open boys entering grades 4-8.

This unique way to paddle is fun and beautiful!  Grab a group of friends for an ADULT NIGHT or grab your family for a FAMILY-FRIENDLY evening out on the harbor! Your group will be escorted around Nahant Bay with up to 2 of our experienced SUP Instructors.Each board will be equipped with glow equipment to light the way!Paddle tours are the ideal way to experience the outdoors with others this summer.  *Participants must bring their own life jacket. Please arrive at Fisherman's Beach 10 minutes before your session.

Our beginner golf program is powered by Payne Stewart Golf Experiences, the recommended entry-level golf program for PGA Junior Golf Camps. The unique, games-based play program and modified learning equipment make it easier for kids to hit the ball and experience early success.In addition to traditional golf, children will get to explore and practice the basics of disc (frisbee) golf and foot (soccer) golf. All equipment is provided. Participants may NOT bring any equipment.   Participants should bring a water bottle, two snacks, lunch, sunscreen and wear appropriate athletic attire. Each participant receives an awards certificate and Skyhawks T-shirt.

You will be able to choose which days to attend that week to make-up for any cancellations during your regularly scheduled week. Directed by Katelyn Leonard Katelyn Leonard is currently the girls varsity basketball coach at Swampscott High School and has been a varsity coach for more than 15 years. She brings enthusiasm, knowledge and experience of more than 25 years of playing and coaching. Katelyn played Division II basketball at Stonehill College, and is an alumni of the Swampscott High School Girls Basketball program.  Girls Basketball Skills & Drills The clinic is designed to develop fundamental basketball skills to help each player reach their ultimate potential. We will work on individual skills and team concepts in a fun and positive atmosphere. Drills are designed for all skill levels to benefit – from beginner up. The Swampscott High School girls basketball coaching staff as well as players from the HS team will be on site for instruction. Open to girls entering grades 4-8.

This unique way to paddle is fun and beautiful!  Grab a group of friends for an ADULT NIGHT or grab your family for a FAMILY-FRIENDLY evening out on the harbor! Your group will be escorted around Nahant Bay with up to 2 of our experienced SUP Instructors.Each board will be equipped with glow equipment to light the way!Paddle tours are the ideal way to experience the outdoors with others this summer.  *Participants must bring their own life jacket. Please arrive at Fisherman's Beach 10 minutes before your session.

The unique, games-based play program and modified learning equipment make it easier for kids to hit the ball and experience early success. Putting, chipping, pitching and full swing, are all taught through games, simple repetitive motions and learning rhymes that make it easy for young kids to remember and repeat. Specially designed, age-appropriate golf equipment is provided.Participants may NOT bring any equipment.  Participants should bring multiple water bottles, two snacks, sunscreen and wear appropriate athletic attire.Every child receives an award certificate and Skyhawks t-shirt.

Stand Up Paddleboard programming for kids is back in Swampscott for Summer 2024! We are excited to roll out our town-run SUP program for kids again this summer!We welcome SUPers of all levels. Participants must be entering 1st thru 9th grade come September 2024.Mrs. Russo and Ms Woodfin, beloved Swampscott High School Teachers, will be directing this program with a group of dynamic SUP Leaders!Participants in this program will have plenty of time aboard our new paddle boards as well as time to cool off with some AWESOME beach activities (Think: Tie-dye, flash dances, treasure hunts, Spike Ball, and more!!!)Our top priority is safety on and off the water. Participants will be educated on how to properly handle equipment, how to safely launch and land a paddle board, how to turn and maneuver while in the water, water and sun safety and etiquette, and how to safely dismount and get back on a board while in the water.Our next priority is FUN! We've got program leaders who are excited to welcome you to the program and jam pack the morning with high-octane FUN, FUN, FUN! Whether participants are on a board or on the beach, FUN will be following!You must bring your own fife jacket.
